How to make my dad stop snoring!!?
October 24th, 2009
My dad is laying on the couch snoring louder than any human I know. I go to my room and shut the door but it is still SOO loud. He snores over the loudest my ipod goes!!! What should I do to stop the snoring or stop getting annoyed!?
You can wake him up, that would stop it.
He’s probably tired, though, so maybe go outside?
It’s nice out! And it’ll be quieter.

Plug his nose, or tell him to buy them things you put on your nose to help with snoring. If he don’t believe he snores video tape him or something.

Give him a nose strip, or tell him to lay differently, or blast some music.

There’s not really much you can do. Snoring is like a disease, you can’t just get rid of it (its not a disease don’t worry). It has to do with the respitory system. Here’s a few things to help his snoring:
* Make him try a breathe right. Little things that go on your nose to make the snoring better
* Drink a full glass of cold water before bed, so that it breaks the loudness.
* If he only sleeps on one pillow, make him use two and incline him to make his breathing better.

Suggest he go to a sleep clinic. A lot of people who snore have something called "Sleep Apnea"-which means they stop breathing while they sleep. My father FOR YEARS did that. He would fall asleep in the middle of the day, and snore. People with sleep apnea aren’t really sleeping nearly as long as they think they are. What could eventually happen, as it did with MY dad, is ‘microsleeps’ which is especially dangerous while driving.
A sleep clinic could diagnose the problem and put your dad on a c-pap machine to help him breathe throughout the night, lessening the need to fall asleep in the middle of the day, putting less strain on his heart, and getting enough oxygen to his brain…making him a more pleasant person to be around, and enabling YOU to get some studying and music listening done!
