Are there nose strips or anything to stop snoring?
I have to share a room with my mom when we go to the islands on vacation for 7 days. At home her snores can be heard through the house(on all 3 levels) So I cannot imagine what it will be like to sleep in the same room. Is there anything that cures snoring? I love my mom and everything but somethings gotta give. Thanks for all the help.
There are lots of reasons why people snore–none of which can be cured quickly.
many people have ‘sleep apnea’ and need to use a compressed forced breathing machine (called a C-Pap or Bi-Pap).
She may or may not have this.
people who are overweight tend to snore more.
people who sleep on their backs, also tend to snore more.
Anyway–for the trip, i suggest your mom sleep on 2-3 pillows, to prop her up.
Also you can buy her "Breathe Right" nasal strips, which help keep her nasal airways open, so she breathes through her nose while sleeping.
For you–buy some ear plugs. I use them all the time- I have the soft, squishy kind, and they work great.
best wishes to you both and have a nice trip!

The following tips will hopefully give you relief with your mom snoring problems :
1. Elevate your head by sleeping on a thicker pillow or multiple pillows will help reduce your snoring.
2. Don’t drink alcoholic beverages, take sleeping pills, tranquilizers, or antihistamines right before going to sleep, they will cause your muscles to relax and limit your air passage way.
3. Avoid dairy products, which can cause mucus build-up right before you go to sleep.
4. If you are overweight, losing some weight will reduce snoring by increasing the space in your air passage way.
5. Sleeping on your side instead of your back will help to prevent snoring.
6. A common remedy to prevent sleeping on your back is to sew a tennis ball to the back of your shirt; the discomfort of sleeping on the ball will prevent you from staying on your back.
7. Try following a regular sleep routine.
8. Try taking in a little bit of honey before sleeping.
9. Don’t eat a big meal right before bed, if your stomach is full it will push up on your diaphragm and limit breathing passage ways.
10. Avoid eating "rich" foods such as cakes, cookies, chocolate and pizza.
11. Sleep on a firmer pillow, a pillow that’s too soft encourages your throat muscles to relax and narrows your air passageway.
12. Inhale steam before sleeping or sleep in a room with a humidifier turned on, which will reduce congestion and moisturize the throat.
13. Purchase some nasal strips and put them on before going to sleep. Nasal strips will open up your nostrils and allow more air to come in, thus reduce snoring.
14. f you are a smoker, stop smoking, if that is not feasible then avoid smoking right before you go to bed. Smoking causes inflammation and swelling of the throat.
15. Take anti-snoring pills or use anti-snoring nasal spray.
16. Consult a medical profesional if your snoring continues to adversely affect your sleep.
